GVRA Program Call to Action
This is a call to all MGV members and participants in GLCs to begin to become attune to the issues critical to Canada’s success in the 21st century.
In the face of this rapidly changing global world Canadian youth have become complacent and apathetic. The GVRA Program aims to awake Canada’s youth to the critical policy choices Canada will have to undergo to win in the globalized era. Riding Ambassadors will consult with community stakeholders, concerned citizens and business leaders in their riding to gain a better understanding of how policies can be changed to keep Canada’s brand on top. As well, Riding Ambassadors will engage with local youth to increase issue awareness and political participation.
Some questions you can begin considering and discussing on MGV include:
- How can Canadian governments and business leaders better promote Canada’s brand?
- Which policies hurt Canadian business (the driver’s of Canada’s 21st century success)?
- Is Canada too closed to foreign investment?
- Which social policies help or hurt Canada’s standing?
- Can Canadian infrastructure serve a 21st century economy or can more be done?
- Are education systems in Canada up to global standards?
- Should more foreign credentials be recognized?
- Which countries should Canadian foreign policy give priority to?
- Does Canada promote human rights at home and abroad sufficiently?
- How can Canada’s First Peoples become more empowered?
- Which local/regional issues are particularly pressing to people in your riding?
