The cost per megawatt of nuclear energy does in fact make it the only realistic choice for the future. At most, what happened in Japan proves that plants should not be located near the coast and near fault lines, unless they have more stringent safeguards in place.

Albertan oil companies are more environmentally conscious than what they are given credit for. If you ever get a chance, visit the oil sands and check out the reclaimed sites. The last time I was there was probably 8 years ago, but even that time they were putting millions of dollars into reclamation efforts. They work [...]

I’m surprised how well Canada performed at math. I remember that I learned basically the same thing from grade 1-9, then got bombarded with new information from 10-12, and then got absolutely buried by new information in my first two years of university. I think that if Canadian school accelerated the first 9 years of [...]

Losing money on oil is not as hard as you make it sound, by the way. All it takes is a dip in the price of oil, right at a time when you’re trying to expand operations to cause a cash flow crisis and force you into receivership. Also, most oil companies that people can [...]

With EPS of 15.15 compared to Microsoft’s 3.69, and a P/E of 21.11 to Microsoft’s 11.52, and with cash reserves of $50bn, I’m not all that surprised that Apple has such a high stock price. I think that a better comparison than Microsoft would be Google who has a share price at close of 591.50, [...]

mmm….beef! I don’t know how countries can resist Alberta beef! I definitely feel bad for every country that has closed its border to my favourite Canadian export.

I completely agree that foreign governments need to gain a better understanding of the efforts that oil sands producers put into environmental conservation. I’d like to add that it is perhaps even more important that Canadians have a…[Read more]

Take that James Cameron! I think that before anyone should judge the oil sands projects in Northern Alberta, they should take a trip to Fort Mac and see how hard oil companies work to preserve the environment when they are operating and restore the environment when they have finished. As an Albertan that has visited [...]

Glad to hear of this personal experience – I think we need more of that conveyed to foreign govts. Can we get some companies there to let GV with our CSR team do third party audits of their CSR- environmental claims

Jack was all of that and more. I worked with his father whom I know would have been so proud of his accomplishments .
Jack was poised now to truly change the nature of politics and how we govern ourselves.
The lesson of life I am sure that Jack would agree and advocate: that the time is now when you you want to get something done – time does not…[Read more]
