When I received the call asking me to become a part of Global Vision’s mission to Indonesia and Malaysia this summer, to say I was ecstatic would be an understatement. Having never traveled outside Canada before, I knew this would be the experience of a lifetime. After 22 hours of flight-time and much more in [...]

For those who were at the Pan-Atlantic Youth Forum, you may have discovered that I was in the process of starting a business. This is the story of how I miraculously got involved and how things have fared since the forum. If someone would have told me just a year ago that I’d end up starting [...] -

From what I’ve seen, it’s a trade-off; the more Canada globalizes, the more its potential prosperity in the future will lessen. However the less Canada globalizes, the more political tension with other countries will occur. Quite frankly, I think the Potash deal was a precursor. What is really going to be tough is when countries [...]

Great point about opportunity for business, a fantastic example is Dragon’s Den where a great deal of the pitches come from London.

This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to attend the New Brunswick Youth Strategy Youth Summit. For almost two years prior to the event, the New Brunswick Youth Strategy consulted youth in order to build recommendations that met their actual needs. After the consultation process, young people (myself included) donated their time to task groups [...] -

I have heard similar things about PEI politics, great that you’re trying to mix things up.
I highly encourage you read a book called “The Prince” by Niccolo Machiavelli. If you’re interested in politics, it’s a must-read.

I agree with your cynicism on this event; although it’s a step in the right direction from our western point of view, the underlying causes and connotations for the future are disturbing. When I saw this in the news I knew it was overhyped and wouldn’t work out as prettily as it seemed. I was [...]

Jared Valdron wrote a new blog post: Professional Networking: An Imperative Narrative 1 year, 4 months ago
Those who attended the Pan-Atlantic Youth Forum found themselves thrown into a social situation from the very get-go. One could tell at a glimpse that there were three distinct groups of people at this “Networking Session” as it was called: there were those huddled in familiar groups having no idea what to do in this situation, [...] -

I agree completely with services facilitating entrepreneurship are extremely beneficial; I don’t know as much about Newfoundland and Labrador as I’d like to, but I’ve definitely heard of the Genesis Centre at MUN. As for similar services in New Brunswick, two companies come to mind: Propel ICT and Tech South East. They both help entrepreneurs [...]

I personally have referred a great amount of my Shad Valley friends to this forum and they are quite impressed; but regardless, they are waiting for a presentation or event in their local region which is hard for me to help coordinate as they’re all across Canada

Completely agree with you, as part of my school’s grad class executive I helped organize a similar affair. We wanted to do something special for the graduating class before Christmas, but couldn’t think of what to do. Someone came up with the idea to give out hot chocolate and marshmallows, and I admit that even [...]

I completely agree that opportunities come up from everywhere and that you often don’t even know who you’re talking to; it’s happened to me countless times. This past May I was in Fredericton at the NBIF R3 Gala with some business associates of mine. I used this opportunity to get to know them and some [...]

I’ve said it before, you never know when or where opportunities in life will present themselves; I was reminded of this fact just a little over 24 hours ago.
